Dr. Blatt is an optometrist specializing in diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. After earning her bachelor's degree in biology from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, she served in the Peace Corps for two years. She obtained her doctorate of optometry in 1993 from the University of Missouri in St. Louis, and then completed an Ocular Disease Residency at St. Alban's V.A. Hospital in Queens, New York, concentrating on glaucoma. There she served on the faculty of the State University of New York, Optometry School.

In 1996 she completed an optometric fellowship in postoperative cataract and corneal transplant care. She is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri School of Optometry. She completed the Laser Vision Fellowship program in 1997 for LASIK, the newest laser procedure to correct near and farsightedness. In 1997 she married Andrew Blatt, M.D., a pediatric ophthalmologist. They reside in St. Louis.
