Dr. Schrenk is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. After obtaining a bachelor's and a master's degree in engineering from Arizona State University, he studied medicine at the University of Arizona. After medical school graduation in 1975, he served an internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. In 1979, he began practicing at the Carle Clinic in Urbana, Illinois, and served on the teaching faculty of the University of Illinois School of Medicine. In 1986, he and his wife and four children moved to St Louis.

Dr. Schrenk has been certified to perform refractive surgery procedures since 1980. In the past, he has improved patients' nearsightedness with RK (incisional surgery) and PRK (laser surgery). He has been certified in LASIK, and now offers this updated refractive surgery procedure. He performs nearsighted and astigmatism correction as a part of the LVCI LASIK study group.
